New Year's Eve

Well, I don't think much of New Year's Eve.  Not a big deal to me.  I've seen enough of them to know that tomorrow will be just another day.

I haven't done very well keeping up with this this year.  Due to surgery and other problems.  This has not been a very good year.  Hopefully next year will be better.

I will be starting off the new year with a new job.  I will be an aide at a Christian school a few days a week.  Between Extended Care and regular class, I'll be busy.  I have MOPS 4 times a month that I work with.  There is also Celebration Station that I am now in charge of every Friday.  It's the kids version of Celebrate Recovery.

I do have many things to look forward to in the New Year!

My new picture

This is the saying that I put into a picture frame and hung in my hallway!  I love to collect sayings!  I have them written down in journals so I can keep them.  Some sayings I really like so I create something with them.

You can never make the same mistake twice.....

Because the second time you make it, it's not a mistake, it's a choice.

Mother's Day Project

This is the project that I made for Mother's Day for church.  It really turned out cute!  I made the big flowers and the sign.  When I bought the large flower pot, the man at Home Depot thought I was crazy because I needed a pot big enough to fit kids into!  I made little magnetic picture frames for the moms.  Most of the kids really loved getting to stand in the flower pot but some weren't too happy!

I have a cute Father's Day project that I'm working on.  I'll post pics after Father's Day!

Air plants

I thought growing an air plant would be easy!  They don't need any dirt or water.  How easy does it get.  Well, so I thought.  This is a picture of my air plant.  It looks like a spider!!  It's suppose to be green and fluffier.  I'm trying to put in it some water to see if that will help it.

Too much snow!

I have decided to paint flowers in the snow to make it look like Spring!!!  I'm going to fill spray bottles with different colors of dies and go to town out there as soon as it warms up some!!  Too cold right now but in a few days it should be warmer.  I'll post pics later.

Paper Flowers!

This photo shows the flowers I made.  There are endless color combinations you can make.

I started with 5 punched out flowers.  This is using a 6 pedal punch but I have done it with a 5 pedal punch too.  The flowers are just a little smaller.

Next, I cut the 5 flowers apart.  I left 2 of the flowers whole, one flower I cut off one pedal, another flower I cut off two pedals, then I cut one flower in half.

Then, I punched holes in the flowers and parts of flowers.  On the two whole flowers I used a regular hole punch and on the others I used a 1/2" punch to make the circles in the centers.

I manipulated the paper but using the McGill paper blossoms manipulators.  I wanted the flowers to start to take shape.

I glued the smaller flowers into cones.  I used Yes glue but any glue that holds nicely will due.

Then I just started assembling the flower from the largest flower to the smallest.  I used Yes glue for this again.  There will be 2 pieces left over.  One of the pieces will be 3 pedals and the other will be just one pedal.

These are the tools I used to manipulate the paper.

These are my finished flowers.  The liter colored flower at the top of the picture is the one I did with a 5 pedal flower punch.  The other two I did with a 6 pedal flower punch.

These are easy to do and add a great 3-dimensional element to any project!!

Random Acts of Kindness

Beginning Friday Jan. 16 through Sunday Jan. 18, 2015 we are encouraging everyone to participate in our 3rd annual "Pay It Forward Weekend". We are asking everyone to do at least one random act of kindness (more than one is even better). It is very easy to participate, all you have to do is do something for someone or some organization without expecting anything in return. Pay for a stranger’s meal, send someone a card, volunteer some time. The ideas are endless.
All it takes is a spark to get a fire going.   Who knows, it might be your life that gets changed.
If we have just one participant then we have had a successful event. Spread the word and help make 2015 start strong for not only the one or more that you touch, but for you personally.
Remember, it doesn't take people doing a lot, just a lot of people doing a little. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

We are NOT saying this is the only time we should do something for someone, this is just a time where we can all do it TOGETHER!!!!! In your community, across the country and around the world.
Thank you in helping us keep this family friendly and positive!!!

What a great idea!!  I am going to send out cards to friends.  Gotta start creating!!

Happy New Year!

Here's an idea I saw and thought I'd share.

Start a thankfulness jar.  Everyday write down one good thing that happened.  Even on bad days, find something that was good.  When you're having a bad day, you can re-read some of the things you wrote and put in the jar on better days.  At the end of the year, re-read all that you wrote.

You can even color code that pieces of paper you write on.  One color for days that aren't so good, one color for days that are good, another color for maybe something outstanding!!

I am going to do this this year!!

If you don't have a jar, try using a box, a plastic container, anything you have that would hold the pieces of paper.  I like the jar idea because it's clear and I can see the pieces of paper.
